Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steve Rogers! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers swinging wildly here.
Rogers tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Rogers will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Rogers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rogers looking for a takedown here - he's got it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rogers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rogers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smith is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smith has escaped and now he's on top! Rogers has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up. Rogers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looking to pass the guard. Rogers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rogers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Smith trying to control but Rogers is working from the bottom. Rogers scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Smith scores with a nice strike. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith throws a lazy right hand but Rogers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Nice sprawl there from Smith as Rogers shoots in. Rogers tries to clinch up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rogers ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rogers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Smith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Smith has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Smith there as he acknowledges the shot. Smith works Rogers's body with a nice hook. Rogers throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely. A slow jab from Rogers misses its intended target. Rogers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Rogers does a little dance to reset his feet. Rogers looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well. Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Rogers gets a takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to get back to his feet. Rogers is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smith has managed to free his arm - good work. Rogers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rogers not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rogers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rogers is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rogers on the ground. Rogers is just content to waste time from the top position. Smith takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Smith's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rogers throws a big elbow that misses. Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position. Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Rogers with a flurry of punches that miss. Rogers lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Rogers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Smith's guard. Rogers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rogers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Rogers dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Rogers tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Rogers swinging wildly here.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Rogers. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet. Rogers connects with an inside leg kick. Rogers tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Rogers scoring well with a low kick there.
Rogers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Smith backs up against the ropes.
Rogers closes the distance looking to clinch and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Rogers. Smith throws a hook but Rogers avoids it easily. Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Smith pushes Rogers off looking to stand but Rogers dives back in and keeps control.
Rogers not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rogers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rogers is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smith has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rogers passes the guard and advances to mount! Rogers landing punches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Rogers's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Rogers! A determined Steve Rogers didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
