Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dean Pope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Jermery!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jermery closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pope quickly recovers to half guard.

Jermery is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jermery is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pope doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jermery.

Jermery is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pope is just riding it out for now. Jermery eventually gives up the hold.
Pope pushes Jermery off looking to stand but Jermery dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jermery is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pope has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jermery is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pope defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jermery manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pope manages to get himself to full guard.

Jermery drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pope looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pope looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pope!

Pope is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Pope landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Pope wants to free his trapped foot but Jermery is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Pope throws a series of punches but Jermery moves out of range.
Jermery leaves Pope with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

I would just about give that final round to Ron Jermery.
