PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Austin Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Haley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fowler's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, "On The Hunt" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Austin Fowler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Haley!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haley walks into a left hand.

It looks like Dan Haley has been cut.
Fowler shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Haley pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Horrible takedown by Fowler or perhaps it was just good defense by Haley which made him look bad.
Fowler tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Haley throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fowler avoids the body shot from Haley.

Haley lands a shoulder strike.
A short right from Haley.

Fowler turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fowler manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Haley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fowler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ground and pound from Fowler seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Fowler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fowler is trying to ground and pound but Haley uses the momentary lack of control by Fowler to regain half guard.
Haley wants to improve his position but Fowler is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fowler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Haley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Haley holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Haley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fowler manages to get himself to full guard.

Fowler working for a triangle but Haley defends it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fowler lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Haley!
Haley is in a horrible position here. Fowler smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fowler throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Haley because Fowler loaded up on that one.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fowler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Haley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Haley is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Haley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fowler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Haley is trying to control the action in half guard but Fowler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fowler wants to control but Haley is keeping busy.
Haley wants to pass the guard but Fowler is defending well.
Fowler is looking to control Haley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fowler avoid being mounted?
Fowler is pressing down on Haley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fowler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Haley passes into half guard.
Fowler wants to get back to full guard but Haley has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fowler tries to work over Haley's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Haley goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Haley makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Haley works on Fowler's body with a couple of short punches.
Haley lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Fowler backwards.
Haley lands a body punch.
Haley pushes Fowler back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fowler is trying to break free.
Haley lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fowler backwards.
Haley presses Fowler against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Still in the clinch, Haley scores with a nice short uppercut.
Haley is pressed up against the cage. Fowler has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Haley down to the mat. Haley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin Fowler. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Haley clinches.
Haley works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Oh Fowler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fowler stalling in the clinch but Haley improves position.
Haley pushes Fowler back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fowler is looking to break free of the clinch but Haley has double underhooks.
Haley lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Fowler or not.
Haley lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Haley lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Haley creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Fowler's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Fowler drops to his knees and Haley pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
