Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mamed Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Samuels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samuels has chosen Down with the sickness as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Khalidov wants it to stay on the feet.
Samuels shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khalidov but Khalidov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A solid body kick from Khalidov.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Samuels.
Mamed Khalidov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Samuels.

Khalidov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Samuels manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Samuels shoots in but Khalidov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Samuels tries a head kick but it misses.
Samuels moves into the clinch.
Khalidov jumps guard but Samuels turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Khalidov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Samuels avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Khalidov trying to control the position but instead, Samuels has worked for underhooks and has pushed Khalidov into the cage.

Khalidov tries to score a body lock takedown but Samuels shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Samuels gets control of Khalidov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Samuels will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khalidov throws an elbow that misses. Samuels uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khalidov's guard. Nice move by Samuels!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dean Samuels hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Khalidov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Samuels circles away.

Samuels changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Khalidov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Samuels working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That was a close round but I would say that Mamed Khalidov will probably get the nod.

Samuels throws a front kick that sends Khalidov stumbling back into the cage.
Samuels tries to clinch up but Khalidov circles away and keeps his distance.
Samuels closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Khalidov's guard.

Khalidov has Samuels pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Samuels manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Samuels is trying to drag Khalidov to the mat but Khalidov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Samuels tries to close the distance and clinch but Khalidov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Samuels dives in and grabs Khalidov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Khalidov pushes down on Samuels's head and hops out.
Samuels takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Khalidov ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Samuels will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Khalidov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Samuels tries to avoid it but Khalidov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Samuels to the ground. Samuels escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Samuels drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Samuels trying to control the position from guard on top but Khalidov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Khalidov is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Samuels tries to free his leg and advance position but Khalidov is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Samuels gets to his feet. Khalidov looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Dean Samuels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Samuels thows a huge punch but Khalidov dodges it nicely.
Khalidov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samuels is working away from the top position though.

Samuels scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Khalidov tries to roll over but Samuels keeps him under control.
Khalidov looks like he's trying to stand up.
Samuels seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Khalidov is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
