This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Payne tries to lock up and control but Bates gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Bates has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Payne has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That was a close round but I would say that Chris Bates will probably get the nod.

The fight stays on the outside here - Bates looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd cheers as Payne lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bates doesn't seem phased though.
