Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jutta Urpilainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Pearsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urpilainen comes to the cage accompanied by A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jutta Urpilainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mitchell Pearsen!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pearsen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Urpilainen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Pearsen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pearsen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pearsen keeping moving, preventing Urpilainen from controlling successfully.
Urpilainen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Urpilainen stays in close to Pearsen's body and controls the position.

Pearsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Urpilainen's guard.

Pearsen stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Pearsen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Urpilainen tries to score a body lock takedown but Pearsen shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Urpilainen looking to sit in guard and control but Pearsen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Urpilainen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pearsen!
You get the feeling that Pearsen really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Pearsen is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Pearsen sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Urpilainen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pearsen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Urpilainen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jutta Urpilainen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Pearsen closes the distance and clinches.
Pearsen is trying to stall.

Urpilainen gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pearsen regains guard.
Pearsen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pearsen thuds his right hand into Urpilainen's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Pearsen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Urpilainen defends it easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jutta Urpilainen.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Urpilainen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
