Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Soya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Uruhara Hatake!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hatake closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Soya to the mat! Soya manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hatake content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Soya being controlled here, momentarily.

Soya has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hatake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Soya looking for subs off his back but Hatake has passed one foot through into half guard.
Soya wants to get back to full guard.

Hatake seems to be working for a kimura but Soya defends the submission attempt.
Hatake wants to control but Soya is keeping him busy.
Hatake lands strikes from half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hatake prevents Soya from improving his position.
Soya is refusing to be controlled, as Hatake sits in half guard.
Hatake landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Hatake is trying to control. Soya wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hatake is controlling the pace.
Hatake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hatake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Soya, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Soya is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Soya is working hard here to advance position.
Soya takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Soya manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Soya moves into full guard.

Soya looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hatake has picked Soya up and slammed him! Soya can't keep hold of the triangle and Hatake manages to pass to side control!
Soya tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hatake presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Hatake raining down shots from the mount!
Soya is breathing heavily.
Oooh a big shot lands for Hatake! Soya is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Uruhara Hatake!
After the fight, Uruhara Hatake was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
