Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ralph Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Coleman! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Coleman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Coleman looking for a guillotine from mount but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie throwing hammer fists to the chest of Coleman. What's that going to do exactly? Coleman moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gracie has worked his arm free - good work by Gracie!
Gracie regains half guard. Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gracie wants to control but Coleman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Coleman throws a wild body kick that Gracie sees coming a mile off. Coleman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gracie is looking to control Coleman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted? Gracie is breathing heavily. Coleman is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now. Coleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gracie's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coleman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Coleman is working away from the top position though. Gracie manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie with a poor takedown and Coleman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now. Coleman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Coleman postures up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Coleman wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Steve Coleman will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Gracie looks to land a left hand but Coleman moved out of range nicely. Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Coleman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Coleman chips away with some ground and pound. Coleman trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Gracie is looking for a triangle here but Coleman uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is staying active underneath Coleman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Coleman is thwarting Gracie's attempts to control the position. Coleman is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.
Gracie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Coleman. Coleman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Coleman is looking for a kimura but Gracie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Coleman to get the leverage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Coleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Nice sprawl there from Gracie as Coleman shoots in. Steve Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie misses with a takedown and Coleman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coleman. It's a sloppy attempt though and Coleman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Coleman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gracie is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gracie has escaped and now he's on top! Gracie preventing the sweep. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully. Coleman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gracie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Coleman is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gracie rolls with it to try and escape but Coleman cranks on the arm and Gracie is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
