Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ogustivimus Amavimus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Karol Cropp!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Amavimus enables Cropp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Amavimus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cropp trying to control the position from guard on top but Amavimus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Amavimus wants to stand and escape but Cropp is having none of it.
Amavimus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Amavimus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cropp controls the pace.
Cropp wants to control from the top but Amavimus keeps moving.
Amavimus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cropp on the ground.
Amavimus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cropp is one step ahead there.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Karol Cropp.
Cropp drops Amavimus with a right and a left! Cropp comes rushing in but Amavimus regains his composure and manages to keep Cropp in guard.
It looks like Ogustivimus Amavimus has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cropp is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Amavimus has momentary wrist control but Cropp slips an elbow through the middle.
Cropp not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Amavimus pulls Cropp in to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cropp wants to control from the top but Amavimus keeps moving.
Cropp might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Amavimus haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Karol Cropp was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Amavimus looks to land a right hand but Cropp moved out of range.
Amavimus throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Amavimus loads up on a big right hand but Cropp slips the punch.
Cropp closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Amavimus to the mat! Amavimus manages to get full guard.
Cropp is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Amavimus is looking to stand up but Cropp isn't so interested in that idea.
Cropp content to stall in guard here.
Cropp stands and throws Amavimus's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amavimus wants to get back to his feet.
Cropp working the body and head with strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cropp wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Amavimus, who protects the arm well.
Cropp is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Amavimus's shoulder. That is not cool.
Cropp looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Amavimus is avoiding damage well.
Cropp scores with a couple of short elbows.
Amavimus is trying to get back to half guard.
Cropp is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Amavimus knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cropp working the ground and pound from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amavimus is holding Cropp down, trying to stall.
Cropp moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Cropp is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Amavimus looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cropp gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Amavimus is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cropp lets go of the hold and Amavimus can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Karol Cropp!
A very excited looking Karol Cropp rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
