Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Greg Kowalski! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalski scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tate on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Kowalski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tate is looking to improve his position.
Kowalski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kowalski throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Tate tries to avoid it but Kowalski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tate to the ground. Tate escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kowalski tries to clinch but Tate moves out of range. Kowalski looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tate is fending him off so far but Kowalski persists. Nope, Tate circles away and we're back to standing. Kowalski connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Tate gets the takedown into side control. Kowalski looks gassed! Kowalski is rocked! Tate working the ground and pound from side control. Kowalski is still in real trouble! Can Tate finish him? Tate will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Tate grinds an elbow into Kowalski's temple. That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tate looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kowalski is one step ahead there. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tate is on top in guard.

He's almost out here... but no, Tate gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Tate scoring with punches from side control. Kowalski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Kowalski tries to roll over but Tate keeps him under control. Kowalski keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kowalski wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kowalski keeps working. Tate wants to pass the guard but Kowalski is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kowalski slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Kowalski throws a couple of heel strikes.

Kowalski doesn't succeed with the takedown so Tate counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Ethan Tate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Kowalski. Kowalski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tate's guard. Kowalski drops back looking for a leg! Tate is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tate manages to kick Kowalski off! Kowalski jumps back into Tate's guard. Tate working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kowalski. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kowalski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kowalski missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Tate manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kowalski manages to get himself to full guard.

Tate knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tate for a finish. Kowalski gets his hands free as Tate looks to control. Kowalski doesn't have the hooks in and Tate manages to turn into his guard.
Tate is working Kowalski over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kowalski lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tate! Kowalski postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tate looks a forlorn figure.

Ethan Tate overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tate looks like he's trying to stand up.

A close second round but Greg Kowalski will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Tate looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kowalski is fending him off so far but Tate persists. Nope, Kowalski circles away and we're back to standing. Kowalski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tate counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kowalski's guard now. Nice defenses there by Kowalski. Greg Kowalski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A jab from Kowalski does it's job there. Nice body kick from Kowalski. Tate fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kowalski sprawls well initially but Tate persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Tate takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Tate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kowalski keeps working. Kowalski throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
