Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Bracken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Kaplan!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bracken shoots in and bounces Kaplan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Bracken knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kaplan on the ground.

Bracken is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Kaplan manages to get to full guard.

Kaplan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bracken doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bracken manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carlos Bracken has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Bracken had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kaplan defends it easily.
Kaplan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bracken on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bracken tries to get out of the position.
Kaplan wants to control from the top but Bracken keeps moving.
Kaplan is pushing down on Bracken's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bracken is fighting to maintain full guard but Kaplan has managed to sneak the leg through.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bracken wants to control but Kaplan postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kaplan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bracken takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A cross from Kaplan lands.
Jason Kaplan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kaplan feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Brackens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kaplan shoots in and drives through. Bracken sprawls well.
Donk. Kaplan catches Bracken right on the button with a cross.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kaplan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bracken haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Kaplan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
