Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Gerardo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Moore! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gerardo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moore's waist but Moore gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gerardo off to one side. Nice takedown defense from Moore. No joy for Gerardo on that attempt. Gerardo shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Gerardo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Moore slaps away a takedown attempt from Gerardo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Gerardo tries to clinch but Moore is having none of it. Gerardo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gerardo tries for a takedown but Moore circles away easily and Moore counters with a left and a right that stings Gerardo. Gerardo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Moore sprawls well. Moore wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gerardo gets slowly back to his feet. Gerardo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moore circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Gerardo. Moore does a little dance to reset his feet. Gerardo misses with a takedown attempt - Moore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gerardo gets in close and instigates a clinch. Moore stops a takedown attempt from Gerardo.
Gerardo is breathing heavily. Moore is looking to break free of the clinch but Gerardo has double underhooks. Moore pulls guard. Moore working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gerardo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gerardo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gerardo trying to control but Moore is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moore has his foot on Gerardo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gerardo works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Moore is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Gerardo has his hands clasped together but Moore extends an breaks Gerardo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Moore.
