Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jorge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Trik Turner - Friends and Family. Jorge has chosen Back in black as his entrance music. Freddy Alves could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to James Jorge's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Jorge! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jorge swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Alves on the wrong end of a nice jab. Jorge walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. The fight stays on the outside here - Jorge looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jorge drives through with a takedown into Alves's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Jorge trying to control the position from guard on top but Alves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jorge stopping the sweep attempt from Alves. Alves looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Jorge from controlling successfully. Jorge postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves trying to control the position.
Jorge works a leg free and moves into half guard. Jorge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working. Alves works his way to full guard. Good work. Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jorge is one step ahead there. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alves is on top in guard.
Alves landing with the ground and pound. Alves postures up and lands a big shot to Jorge's brow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jorge is trying to keep Alves in close.
Jorge wants to sweep here but Alves controlling him for the moment. Alves content to stall in guard here. Alves trying to control but Jorge is working from the bottom. Jorge being controlled here, momentarily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jorge seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Freddy Alves just wasn't active enough. Jorge misses with a two punch combination.
Jorge fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jorge tries to clinch but Alves moves out of range. Jorge shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jorge was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Alves is looking to regain half guard here but Jorge keeps moving and retains side control. Alves is trying to control Jorge's posture but Jorge avoids it. Jorge landing a few strikes. Alves struggling a bit here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jorge in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Jorge has knee on belly and moves into mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alves sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Jorge thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Alves makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alves. Jorge tries to free his leg and advance position but Alves is retaining full guard. Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jorge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alves works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Alves wants to sweep here but Jorge controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but James Jorge will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Good standup being displayed there by Jorge as he connects with a hook. Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alves takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jorge uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alves. Alves walks into a jab. Jorge is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Alves avoids a punch combination nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jorge throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nice uppercut there from Alves.
It looks like James Jorge has been cut. Jorge showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Alves.
Alves misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jorge throws a shot from downtown. Alves moves away and avoids it. Jorge digs a good body shot into Alves's ribs. James Jorge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jorge lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively. Jorge tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alves was well out of range. Poor timing from Jorge. Jorge cracks Alves with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Jorge lands a hook that stumbles Alves back into the cage. Jorge follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Alves to the canvas! Jorge pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Alves has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
