Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Hashimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin's entrance music is The Claw. A fine choice. Hashimoto has chosen Holding Out For A Hero (Japanese Version) as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jason Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
33 - 14 - 4, fighting out of New York, Keiji Hashimoto! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin is looking to score with low kicks. A swing and a miss from Griffin. Griffin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Griffin looks to score with a jab to the body but Hashimoto is just out of range. Danga de danga de dang - Griffin scores with a four punch combination! Griffin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Hashimoto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Griffin.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Griffin, right into the meat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hashimoto moves into full mount! Poor strikes thrown by Hashimoto there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hashimoto lands a big shot there that rocks Griffin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Griffin keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Griffin tries to roll over but Hashimoto keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Griffin is concentrating on defense, preventing Hashimoto from advancing position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Griffin is trying to maintain the position but Hashimoto is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Griffin. Griffin motions for Hashimoto to come forward. Griffin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Griffin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Hashimoto checks the leg kick nicely there.
Both fighters circling a little - Griffin finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Griffin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A close round but Keiji Hashimoto will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Griffin throws a lazy right hand but Hashimoto sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hashimoto checks a leg kick nicely. Griffin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hashimoto will feel that in the morning.

Griffin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hashimoto was well out of range. Poor timing from Griffin. Griffin misses with a kick to the body.

He's obviously looking to slow Hashimoto down. Griffin lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hashimoto takes a step back to recover. Hashimoto on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Griffin. Griffin obviously looking to wear him down.

Griffin throws a chopping leg kick but Hashimoto manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Griffin throws a half hearted mid kick. Hashimoto checks the leg kick nicely there.

Hashimoto's corner is telling him to maintain position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jason Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Griffin thows a leg kick but Hashimoto checks it and Hashimoto counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Hashimoto not landing any meaningful shots this time. Hashimoto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Griffin defends it well. Griffin is positioning himself well to prevent Hashimoto advancing to mount. Hashimoto looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hashimoto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hashimoto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griffin sees it coming and defends easily. Hashimoto is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Griffin tries to bench press Hashimoto off him but Hashimoto keeps the position. Hashimoto tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Griffin defending against the ground and pound. Hashimoto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Griffin is trying to get back to half guard. Hashimoto goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Griffin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hashimoto but great work by Griffin. Griffin taking a breather here. Hashimoto is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Griffin tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Keiji Hashimoto is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hashimoto has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Griffin. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Griffin takes a swing at Hashimoto's ribcage but misses.
