PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dante Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karim Chamakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carver's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Machine Gun - Manu Chao. Chamakh has chosen Robyn - Indestructible as his entrance music. Karim Chamakh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Dante Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karim Chamakh!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chamakh blocks a jab.
Chamakh dodges the punch combination from Carver.
Carver lands a nice hook to Chamakh's body. Chamakh takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carver throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carver throws a nice looking combination but Chamakh bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A combination from Carver does no damage.
Carver throws a right hand that Chamakh ducks under and follows up with a left that Chamakh also avoids with ease.
Carver throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Chamakh counters with a single leg into guard. Carver didn't expect that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Carver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chamakh is looking to work some ground and pound but Carver has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carver controls Chamakh momentarily but Chamakh frees himself.
Chamakh throws a big elbow that misses.

Carver is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Chamakh looking to sit in guard and control but Carver gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Chamakh manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carver manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chamakh's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chamakh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carver swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carver has momentary wrist control but Chamakh slips an elbow through the middle.

Carver is trying to keep Chamakh in close.
Carver is looking to sweep but instead, Chamakh has passed into half guard.
Carver slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Carver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chamakh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carver throws a series of punches but Chamakh moves out of range.
Carver throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Carver throws an overhand right that lands on Chamakh's shoulder, as Chamakh tries to avoid the shot.
Dante Carver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carver misses with a series of wild punches.

Carver throws a hook but Chamakh blocks it.
Carver lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chamakh circles away quickly and effectively.

and Chamakh counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chamakh.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carver is on top in guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Carver lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Carver fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chamakh avoids it really well and circles away.
Carver throws a right and a left that Chamakh avoids nicely.

Chamakh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carver.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chamakh connects with a nice short shot to Carver's temple.
Chamakh is controlling the pace.

Chamakh throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Carver to regain full guard.

Carver is looking to control Chamakh's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carver avoid being mounted?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chamakh stalling away here and it's allowed Carver to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Karim Chamakh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Chamakh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
