Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalid Walid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Velasquez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to KVelasquez Theme. Walid has chosen si karut marut-iklim as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalid Walid! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walid throws a nice looking combination but Velasquez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Velasquez drops his hands momentarily and Walid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Velasquez tries to clinch but Walid moves out of range. A jab from Walid finds it's way through Velasquez's defenses. Walid throws a series of strikes that have Velasquez backpedaling.
Velasquez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No luck for Velasquez with that takedown attempt. Velasquez tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Velasquez tries to clinch up but Walid circles away and keeps his distance. Walid lands with a nice combination. Velasquez backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Kevin Velasquez has been cut. Walid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Velasquez rushes Walid and presses him up against the cage. Velasquez has picked Walid up - he's going for a ride! Velasquez dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Velasquez misses with a head shot. Walid uses the momentum to regain guard. Walid preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Velasquez throws a strike but Walid rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Velasquez working for a triangle but Walid defends it easily.
Walid is looking to work some ground and pound but Velasquez has wrist control. Walid scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Velasquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Walid drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Velasquez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walid has Velasquez in his guard. Velasquez throws an elbow that misses. Walid uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Velasquez's guard. Nice move by Walid! Walid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walid loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Walid working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Velasquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Walid stands up over Velasquez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Velasquez is trying to control the position but Walid postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walid trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Velasquez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Velasquez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Walid throws a big elbow that misses. Velasquez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Velasquez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Walid. Velasquez is breathing heavily. Walid trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. Walid works over Velasquez with some ground and pound from guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Velasquez wants to sweep here but Walid controlling him for the moment. Walid missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Walid throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Velasquez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Velasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Velasquez, not yet. Velasquez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Velasquez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Walid throws a big elbow that misses. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Walid chips away with some ground and pound. Walid scoring with punches to the head and body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Walid trying to control the position from guard on top but Velasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Walid scores with a decent looking elbow strike. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Khalid Walid dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kevin Velasquez's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Velasquez dives in and scores a takedown into Walid's guard. Velasquez throwing strikes but missing. Walid avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Velasquez lands a couple of decent looking shots. Velasquez passes Walid's left leg - he's now in half guard. Walid is concentrating on defense, preventing Velasquez from advancing position. Velasquez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walid can do anything to dispel that myth. Velasquez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Walid avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Velasquez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Walid defending well though. Velasquez seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Walid is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
