Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lungdumtu Amah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Melcher!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amah with a poor takedown

and Melcher counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Melcher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Melcher distracts Amah with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Melcher tries to free his leg and advance position but Amah is retaining full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Amah is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Melcher is controlling him.

Amah has his foot on Melcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melcher works his way back into a safe position though.
Amah wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Melcher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Amah had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Melcher defends it easily.

Melcher is working for a submission of some sort.
Melcher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Amah on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Melcher takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Amah tries to get to full guard but Melcher has control of the leg.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Melcher is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Amah doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Melcher.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amah tries to kick Melcher off but Melcher keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Amah works his way to full guard. Good work.

Amah working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Melcher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Amah is tightening it up a little... Melcher has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Melcher reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Melcher taps out! Nice BJJ there by Amah!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Lungdumtu Amah!
