Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Yurinov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diskretni Jebac!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jebac lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jebac throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jebac connects with a nice looking jab.
Yurinov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jebac was covering up waiting for the punch and Yurinov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Yurinov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yurinov stands up over Jebac, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Yurinov lands a couple of elbows.
Yurinov throwing strikes from guard but Jebac blocks nicely.
Yurinov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jebac's head.
Yurinov scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jebac wants to stand up but Yurinov is controlling him.
Yurinov throws a big right hand that misses.
Yurinov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jebac is working an open guard so Yurinov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Yurinov has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jebac.
Yurinov tries to move into range but Jebac moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jebac scores with a head kick.
Yurinov moves away from the strike by Jebac.
Yurinov shoots in but Jebac avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jebac is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Yurinov like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Yurinov from another fist facial!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diskretni Jebac!
An out of breath Diskretni Jebac thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
