PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damien Lok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lord Steel Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lok kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is pepper. Lord Steel Penn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Lok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lord Steel Penn!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel Penn blocks the body kick.
Steel Penn tries to clinch but Lok moves out of range.
Lok misses with a wild body shot.
Steel Penn looks to score with a jab to the body but Lok is just out of range.
Lok darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Lok thows a body shot but no joy.
Damien Lok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lok throws a right and a left that Steel Penn avoids nicely.
Lok misses with a looping right.
Steel Penn wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Lok lunges at Steel Penn with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Steel Penn's hand.
Lok throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steel Penn sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lok, as that shot connected.
Steel Penn connects with the punch.
Lok misses with a body shot.
Steel Penn slips a jab from Lok.

and Steel Penn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lok's guard now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lok looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Steel Penn passes into side control.
Lok gets back to half guard.
Steel Penn wants to stand up but Lok is controlling the position.
Lok looks like he's trying to stand up.
Lok regains full guard. Nicely done.
Steel Penn wants to stand but Lok has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lok lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Steel Penn!
Lok has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Steel Penn's face.


Steel Penn is rocked!


It looks like Lord Steel Penn has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lok thowing shots but they're missing.
Steel Penn is still in real trouble! Can Lok finish him?
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lok misses with a head shot.
Steel Penn seems to have recovered his senses.

Lok has control of Steel Penn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Steel Penn regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lok has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lok punishing his opponent with strikes.
Lok trying to control but Steel Penn is having none of it.

Lok thowing shots but they're missing.
Lok throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Steel Penn because Lok loaded up on that one.
Lok controlling from mount.
Lok lands with some strikes.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Lok throws some wild stikes that Steel Penn manages to avoid easily.
Lok can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Steel Penn is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Lok there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Lok is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Steel Penn can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Lok punching from mount but Steel Penn doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Lok misses with a head shot.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Lok sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Lok thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Steel Penn holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lok tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Lok with a couple of short strikes.


That has opened up Lord Steel Penn's cut even more.
Steel Penn is desperately trying to improve his position but Lok has a good base and remains in mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steel Penn wants to control but Lok is having none of it.
Lok thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Lok misses with a head shot.
A nice elbow there by Lok.


The cut above Lord Steel Penn's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Lok connects with a bit shot that sees Steel Penn covering up! More strikes from Lok and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Lok is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damien Lok!
Damien Lok decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
