PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Ivey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wojciech Sakrucki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivey kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Friday. Sakrucki comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kochana Polsko kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Wojciech Sakrucki enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phil Ivey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wojciech Sakrucki!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakrucki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ivey as he avoids it easily.
Ivey catches Sakrucki with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Ivey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ivey punishes Sakrucki's body with a nice straight punch.
Sakrucki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ivey goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ivey misses with a looping left.
Ivey pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ivey clinches up against the ropes.
Sakrucki blocking some punches.
Ivey lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Sakrucki backwards.
Sakrucki tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ivey just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ivey.
Sakrucki is working for takedown but Ivey is calmly controlling the position for now.
Phil Ivey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wojciech Sakrucki.
Sakrucki goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice body punch from Ivey - that landed with a thud.
Ivey lands a hook that snaps the head of Sakrucki backwards.
Ivey blocks an uppercut.
Ivey misses with a hook to the ribs.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Ivey creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Ivey manages to break the clinch.
Ivey tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sakrucki is able to avoid easily.
Phil Ivey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ivey throws a looping overhand right but Sakrucki ducks down to avoid it.
Ivey misses with a straight left.
Ivey pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Phil Ivey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ivey works Sakrucki's body with a nice hook.
Ivey throws a big shot that misses.
Ivey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sakrucki's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ivey connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sakrucki scrambles back to his feet.
Ivey takes a shot right to the bread basket.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ivey misses with a hook. Sakrucki ducked under it nicely.
Sakrucki dodges the punch combination from Ivey.
Ivey lands a jab to Sakrucki's midsection.
Ivey throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sakrucki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ivey manages to avoid it.
Ivey misses with a body shot.
Ivey dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sakrucki. That did some damage!

and Sakrucki counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ivey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sakrucki manages to get himself to full guard.
Ivey is stalling in the full guard.

Sakrucki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ivey defends it easily.

Sakrucki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ivey is aware though and is defending well.
Ivey's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Sakrucki working for a triangle but Ivey defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sakrucki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sakrucki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sakrucki looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ivey puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sakrucki wants to sweep but Ivey has passed to side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sakrucki tries to buck Ivey off but Ivey is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Ivey dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Ivey connects with a crisp jab.
Phil Ivey is winning the standup battle so far.
Nice shot lands for Ivey.
Ivey bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sakrucki's head backwards.


Sakrucki is rocked!
Ivey lands a brutal uppercut that launches Sakrucki off his feet! Sakrucki tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Phil Ivey!
Our winner, Phil Ivey, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
