Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chad Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Winner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cain Winner is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw has closed the distance and engaged Winner in a clinch.
Shaw is working for takedown but Winner is calmly controlling the position for now. Winner with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Winner scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Winner throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Shaw blocks it with crossed arms. Shaw could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Winner prevents a takedown attempt there.

Shaw takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Winner tries to kick Shaw off but Shaw keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Winner lands a head kick. Shaw smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shaw misses with a wild combination.
Jab, jab by Winner - just one landing. Winner swats away the attempt to clinch by Shaw. Winner lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

That's better than Shaw was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Winner is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Shaw throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Shaw is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Winner is surviving well by controlling Shaw's body position as best he can. Winner is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Shaw has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Shaw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shaw postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Winner looks a forlorn figure.
