Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Anderson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lugz fails with the takedown and Anderson counters with a single leg into guard. Lugz didn't expect that. Anderson landing with the ground and pound. Anderson sitting in guard here, content to control. Anderson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Anderson is pushing down on Lugz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lugz is fighting to maintain full guard but Anderson has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson trying to control the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gene Anderson wasn't active enough on the ground. Lugz is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Anderson circles away from the clinch attempt so Anderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Anderson is pushing down on Lugz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lugz is fighting to maintain full guard but Anderson has managed to sneak the leg through. Lugz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anderson on the ground. Anderson missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Anderson escapes and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lugz is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.
Birdman Lugz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lugz wants to clinch up but Anderson keeps it at a distance. Lugz clobbers Anderson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Lugz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lugz wants to clinch up but Anderson keeps it at a distance. Anderson darts in and clinches Lugz up against the cage. Lugz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Anderson prevents it.
Anderson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Lugz prevents a takedown attempt there.
Anderson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lugz just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Anderson has Lugz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lugz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Birdman Lugz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gene Anderson. Lugz jumps guard but Anderson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Anderson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lugz.
Lugz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Anderson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Anderson pulls Lugz into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Anderson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lugz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Anderson keeping moving, preventing Lugz from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gene Anderson dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Anderson dives in and grabs Lugz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lugz pushes down on Anderson's head and hops out. Anderson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Anderson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Anderson tries for a takedown but Lugz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Lugz wants to clinch. Anderson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lugz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Birdman Lugz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gene Anderson. Anderson lands a jab to Lugz's midsection. Anderson rushes Lugz and presses him up against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Anderson's face as he tries to break the clinch. Lugz managing to block the knees to the body from Anderson.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson is defending well against a takedown attempt. Anderson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lugz smiles and moves away.
Anderson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lugz tries to avoid it but Anderson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lugz to the ground. Lugz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Anderson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lugz sprawls well. He's pushed Anderson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lugz is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lugz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Anderson shoots in for a takedown but Lugz shows good takedown defense. Lugz gets tackled into the cage by Anderson. Anderson maintains the clinch. Still in the clinch, Anderson scores with a nice short uppercut. Anderson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lugz is trying to pull guard but Anderson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Anderson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lugz after a bit of a struggle. Lugz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Anderson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Lugz wants to take the fight to the mat but Anderson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Lugz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Anderson. Lugz attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Anderson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Anderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Anderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Anderson wants to stand up but Lugz has a hold of him and won't allow it. Anderson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lugz is staying active underneath Anderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Still in half guard, Anderson seems content to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gene Anderson. Lugz clinches. Anderson is trying to push Lugz away but Lugz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Gene Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Lugz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Gene Anderson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Lugz wants to clinch. Lugz wants to clinch but Anderson slips to the side and Anderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lugz's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson throws a strike but Lugz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Anderson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lugz! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anderson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lugz is on top in guard.

Anderson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Anderson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lugz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lugz postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lugz throwing strikes from guard but Anderson blocks nicely. Anderson wants to sweep here but Lugz controlling him for the moment. Lugz wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.
We're going to have a standup here because Birdman Lugz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Anderson looking to score a takedown here. Lugz is defending well but Anderson drives through and ends up in Lugz's guard. Anderson content to stall in guard here. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Lugz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lugz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
