Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Massimo Meridio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Massimo Meridio has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Massimo Meridio seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridio shoots in for a takedown but Smirnov shows good takedown defense.
Smirnov looking to score a takedown here. Meridio is defending well but Smirnov drives through and ends up in Meridio's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smirnov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Smirnov connects with a couple of short punches.
Smirnov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Smirnov looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Meridio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meridio is looking to sinch up a triangle. Smirnov throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Meridio's body to avoid the submission. Meridio has instead reached around Smirnov's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Meridio arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Massimo Meridio!
