Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Edgar Cooke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Callaghan! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callaghan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Cooke avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Callaghan looks for the body kick but Cooke saw that one coming. A low kick from Callaghan misses and Cooke counters with a takedown into side control. Cooke is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Callaghan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cooke tries for a kimura but Callaghan is defending well. Cooke could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cooke thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cooke tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Cooke goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Callaghan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cooke's guard! Nice work there by Callaghan!
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooke throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Callaghan escapes and throws Cooke's legs to the side, diving into side control! Callaghan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Callaghan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Callaghan throws an elbow but Cooke slips to the side and avoids it well. Callaghan in the domination position with Cooke hanging on. Cooke is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Callaghan off and has taken his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooke working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Callaghan is doing well to defend. Cooke seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Callaghan is forced to tap and this one is over!
