Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shoney Rottie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Catalin Spike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rottie throws a nice looking combination but Spike bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rottie fails in his attempt to clinch.
Spike steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rottie.
Spike shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rottie is trying to defend but Spike finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Spike perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Spike missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Spike is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rottie sees it coming and defends easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Catalin Spike hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rottie slaps away a takedown attempt from Spike, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Catalin Spike seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rottie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spike.
Rottie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Spike closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rottie quickly recovers to half guard.

Let's hope that Spike has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Spike pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Spike tries a head kick but it misses.
Spike slips a jab and a cross from Rottie.

Spike drags the fight down to the ground.
Spike is pulling down on Rottie's head. It's preventing any offense from Rottie, at least for the moment.
Rottie has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rottie throws an elbow that misses. Spike uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rottie's guard. Nice move by Spike!

Spike is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Shoney Rottie just wasn't active enough.
Rottie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Spike shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rottie pinned against the cage. Rottie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Spike misses with a body kick.

That's time! Rottie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Spike shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Spike looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Catalin Spike was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Rottie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Spike fails in his attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Spike or perhaps it was just good defense by Rottie which made him look bad.
Shoney Rottie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Spike closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rottie circles away.
Rottie slaps away a takedown attempt from Spike, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Shoney Rottie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Catalin Spike.
Rottie doesn't manage to clinch there - Spike circles away.
Spike avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rottie swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Spike counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Spike throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Rottie to regain full guard.
Spike wanted to stand there but Rottie had control of the position.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Spike. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Catalin Spike has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Spike fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rottie, pushing him back against the cage.

Spike pulls guard effortlessly.
Spike wants to stand but Rottie is controlling the position.
Spike looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Rottie is defending well. Spike quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Rottie has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Spike celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
