PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between mr pearl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendo Plice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, mr pearl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kendo Plice!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
pearl throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
pearl lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
pearl looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Plice is fending him off so far but pearl persists. Nope, Plice circles away and we're back to standing.

pearl shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
pearl lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
pearl wants to take a breather but Plice is having none of it.
pearl is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
pearl not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
pearl wants to control but Plice is keeping him busy.
pearl passes into side control, despite Plice's attempt to control the position.
Plice is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

pearl has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

pearl shoots for a double leg takedown but Plice sprawls well. He's pushed pearl's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
pearl fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for mr pearl. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Plice keeps the fight on the outside.
mr pearl seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
pearl stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
pearl throws a head kick that misses.
pearl tries to clinch up but Plice circles away and keeps his distance.
Plice staying out of range there.
Plice moves out of range of the strikes.
pearl throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Plice's waist but Plice gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing pearl off to one side.

Plice darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Plice works his foot free and advances to mount.
Plice looks gassed!

Plice avoids the attempt from pearl to control.
Plice lands a big shot there that rocks pearl but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
pearl regains half guard.
Plice wants to free his trapped foot but pearl is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are battling for position here. pearl manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
pearl pulls Plice in close to prevent any damage.
pearl not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
pearl avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
pearl wants to stand up but Plice is controlling him.
pearl tries to land a sweep but no joy.

pearl pushes Plice off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
pearl gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Plice counters with a takedown into side control.
pearl gets back to half guard.
pearl throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Plice wants to lay and pray for a moment but pearl keeps working.
pearl trying to control but Plice postures up.
pearl wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
pearl wants to control but Plice is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Plice counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Plice tries to pass to full mount but pearl defends it.
Plice scoring with strikes to the body and head.
pearl is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
pearl makes his way to full guard. A much better position for pearl.

Plice working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of pearl's head.
Plice preventing the sweep.
pearl wants to stand but Plice is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
pearl is trying to control the position from the bottom.
pearl is really struggling to control Plice but he's trying to hold on to the position.
pearl wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

pearl escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Plice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Plice lands a couple of digs.
Plice is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

pearl is trying to control but can't.
Plice is looking to take a break and control but pearl is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Plice prevents pearl from standing back up.

pearl works his way to full guard. Good work.
pearl is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
pearl passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Plice!
Plice wants to control but pearl is having none of it.

pearl can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Plice is looking to escape.
pearl cracks Plice with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The referee warns Plice that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
pearl takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Plice can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kendo Plice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

pearl gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
pearl is pressing down on Plice's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
pearl has a closed guard, preventing Plice from standing up.
pearl is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

pearl has his feet on Plice's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

pearl gets caught flat footed, as Plice shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

pearl wants to sweep but no luck.
Plice takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
pearl bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Plice's guard.
Plice trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
pearl slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
pearl wants to control from the top but Plice keeps moving.
Kendo Plice has got the better of the ground game so far.
pearl is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Plice is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

pearl fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Plice gets a takedown into half guard.

Plice is looking for a kimura but pearl is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Plice to get the leverage.
Plice is pressing down on pearl's thigh, looking to free his foot. pearl is holding on for now.
pearl is trying to control but can't.
pearl tries to get to full guard but Plice has control of the leg.
pearl wants to control but Plice is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Plice decides to stand up.
Plice takes a shot to the body in his stride.
pearl throws a half hearted mid kick.
Plice avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
pearl scores with a body shot.
Plice has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Plice shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Plice was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Plice looking for a guillotine from mount but pearl is having none of it.

pearl bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Plice has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but pearl can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

I would just about give that final round to Kendo Plice.
