Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, bj Ferguson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Worner! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferguson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. You can see the frustration on Worner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ferguson happy to just control the position for now. Worner can't do much from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Worner manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Worner seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ferguson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ferguson has one foot on Worner's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Worner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ferguson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Worner scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That's one minute gone in the round. Worner dives in and grabs Ferguson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ferguson pushes down on Worner's head and hops out. The fight moves into the clinch position. Worner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ferguson has him pressed against the cage. Worner is trying to drag Ferguson to the mat but Ferguson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Worner is trying to maintain a safe position but Ferguson gets an underhook and turns Worner into the cage. Ferguson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Worner clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ferguson biding his time, controlling Worner. You can see the frustration on Worner's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Worner has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Ferguson has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Worner is defending well but eventually Ferguson manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Worner has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
