Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rath Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Magana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magana shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Magana swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Magana is avoiding it.

Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Johnson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Magana pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.

Magana has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rath Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Magana dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Magana's head and hops out.

Johnson tries to clinch up but Magana circles away and keeps his distance.

Magana leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Magana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Johnson sprawls well. Johnson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magana gets slowly back to his feet.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Magana to the mat! Magana manages to get full guard.

Magana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily.

Magana controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.

Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Magana gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johnson trying to keep a closed guard but Magana is proving a slippery customer.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Magana stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Magana manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Magana looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Magana is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it.
Magana misses with an elbow from the bottom.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rath Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
