PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Parker will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicholas Dunham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Parker!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker closes the distance and clinches.
Dunham tries for a takedown. No joy.
Parker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Dunham is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parker pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Dunham wants the takedown. Parker is fighting it off but Dunham persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Parker's guard against the cage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Parker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Dunham is working Parker over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Dunham drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dunham jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dunham decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Dunham is looking to clinch but Parker is avoiding it.

Dunham has picked Parker up - he's going for a ride! Dunham dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Dunham is working for a submission of some sort.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Parker is trying to get back to full guard.

Dunham looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Parker with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Parker is defending against the submission attempts here by Dunham.

Dunham is trying to work for a kimura but Parker is defending well.

Dunham thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Parker's head.

Dunham is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dunham is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Parker tries to kick Dunham off but Dunham keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Dunham is nestled in close to Parker, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Dunham tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dunham has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dunham stands up and beckons Parker to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dunham rushes Parker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Parker wants a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicholas Dunham dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Dunham shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Parker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Dunham wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Parker, who protects the arm well.
Dunham creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Horrible takedown by Parker or perhaps it was just good defense by Dunham which made him look bad.
Nicholas Dunham is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Dunham counters with a nice double leg into side control. Parker won't be happy with that.
