Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JJ Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Ernie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnston comes to the cage accompanied by Shackler's Revenge - Guns N Roses. Bert Ernie struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, JJ Johnston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 38 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bert Ernie! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ernie shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ernie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ernie shoots and misses enabling Johnston to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Bert Ernie has been cut. Ernie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. JJ Johnston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bert Ernie. Johnston tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ernie paws at him with a jab and circles away. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ernie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Johnston - the referee stops the clock and Ernie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Johnston. Ernie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Johnston tries a head kick but it misses.
Ernie tries to keep at a distance but Johnston has taken the fight into the clinch. Ernie drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnston gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Johnston escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ernie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johnston's half guard. Johnston trying to control here.
Ernie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Johnston wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Johnston manages to regain full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnston is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ernie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Ernie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Johnston seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ernie keeping full guard, as Johnston tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston advances position into side control! A lull in the action here as Johnston stalls from top position. Johnston tries to move to mount but Ernie blocks the move with his legs. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Johnston wants to control but Ernie is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnston controls the position. Johnston wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ernie keeps working.
The ref stands the fighters back up because JJ Johnston just wasn't active enough. Johnston's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ernie under the eye. Ernie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnston's waist but Johnston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ernie off to one side. Ernie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnston is fending him off so far but Ernie persists. Nope, Johnston circles away and we're back to standing. Ernie clinches up against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnston decides to pull guard. Johnston controlling the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ernie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnston is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JJ Johnston dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bert Ernie's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ernie shoots in for a takedown but Johnston shows good takedown defense. Ernie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Ernie throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Johnston stuffs the takedown attempt from Ernie. Ernie gets slowly back to his feet. JJ Johnston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bert Ernie. Ernie fails with the takedown and Johnston counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Ernie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnston as he jumps to the side. Ernie is breathing heavily. Johnston circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ernie tries to keep at a distance but Johnston has taken the fight into the clinch. Johnston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ernie fails with the takedown. Johnston darts in and clinches Ernie up against the cage. Johnston breaks from the clinch.
Ernie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnston as he avoids it easily. Ernie shoots for a takedown but Johnston saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Johnston shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnston was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ernie is trying to escape the position but Johnston is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ernie tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Ernie wants to hold on but Johnston pushes him away. Johnston controlling the position easily from mount. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnston takes Ernie's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Ernie is in trouble. Johnston biding his time, looking for the opening.
JJ Johnston overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Ernie trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Ernie is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Johnston off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Ernie rolls, trying to escape but Johnston keeps control of the position.
Johnston is looking to control Ernie but Ernie is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Johnston working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Ernie wants to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ernie trying to control the position but Johnston manages to sink in the hooks. Johnston has good solid back control here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Johnston circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ernie misses with a takedown attempt - Johnston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ernie misses with a takedown attempt and Johnston moves into the clinch. Johnston taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Johnston throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ernie stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. JJ Johnston is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ernie tries to work over Johnston's front leg with a kick but Johnston checks it. Ernie tries for a takedown but Johnston circles away easily and Johnston counters by moving into the clinch. JJ Johnston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bert Ernie. Ernie is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Johnston pulls him back up using the underhooks. A nice left hand lands by Johnston.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ernie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnston sprawls well initially but Ernie persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Johnston is doing well to control the position and prevent Ernie from advancing to side control. Johnston slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnston swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ernie is fighting to break Johnston's control of his arms but Johnston is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Ernie tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnston is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnston controlling Ernie's posture. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Ernie is looking to advance position but Johnston has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Johnston takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bert Ernie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that's the end of the fight! JJ Johnston showed his dominance in that final round. Well Johnston has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... JJ Johnston! A very excited looking JJ Johnston rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
