PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Primitivo Ala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Seamon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ala comes into the arena with Scar-Paparoach blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Christopher Seamon enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Primitivo Ala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Christopher Seamon!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seamon fails with a takedown attempt.
A punch combination from Ala misses.

Ala has taken the fight to the clinch.
Seamon is looking for a takedown.
Ala can't break the clinch.
Ala wants to get back to striking at distance but Seamon won't allow it.
Seamon blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Seamon pulls Ala into guard.
Ala throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Seamon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ala postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ala throwing strikes from guard but Seamon blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ala has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ala throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Seamon blocks it with crossed arms.
Ala wants to break the clinch but can't.

Seamon throws a shot to the body.

Ala instigates a clinch.
Seamon blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Seamon wants to take the fight to the mat but Ala manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Primitivo Ala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Seamon.
Ala wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ala breaks the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ala fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ala is breathing heavily.
Seamon has a takedown stuffed.

Seamon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ala on his heels. He'll look to pass Ala's guard now, I'm sure.

Ala is working an open guard so Seamon takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Primitivo Ala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A head punch on the inside from Ala fails to land.
Ala throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Seamon blocks it with crossed arms.
Ala tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ala looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Seamon jumps guard but Ala stands there with Seamon around his waist. Seamon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ala wants to get back to striking at distance but Seamon won't allow it.

Seamon wants to stand and escape but Ala is having none of it.
Seamon pulls Ala in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Seamon manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Christopher Seamon will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ala lands a high kick!
A head kick misses from Seamon.

Seamon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ala's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seamon postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Christopher Seamon.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Seamon.

Ala moves into the clinch.
Ala is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Seamon has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ala uses from the top position.
Seamon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Seamon is looking to stand up but Ala isn't so interested in that idea.

Ala with a flurry of punches that miss.
Seamon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ala accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ala is looking to work some ground and pound but Seamon has wrist control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Christopher Seamon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Seamon blocks a head kick by Ala.

Ala closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Seamon to the mat! Seamon manages to get full guard.
Seamon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ala won't allow Seamon to sweep him here.

Seamon manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Seamon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Seamon lands a head kick. Ala smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ala lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ala throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Seamon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ala is in Seamon's guard.
Ala prevents Seamon from getting back to his feet.

Seamon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ala is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ala clinches up with Seamon and pushes him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ala tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Primitivo Ala will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Seamon throws a nice looking combination but Ala bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ala changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Seamon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ala throwing strikes but Seamon manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Ala is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Seamon is controlling him well.

Seamon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ala has escaped the position, nice work there.

Seamon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ala, who protects the arm well.
Ala is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Seamon has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Check out the look on Seamon's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ala wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Seamon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Seamon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Seamon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ala bucks up and tries to throw Seamon off but instead Seamon has got his back!

Seamon is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Seamon has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ala has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Seamon controlling the position well here. Ala rolled but Seamon kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Seamon is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Ala won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Seamon off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Christopher Seamon!
Christopher Seamon decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
