PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Palowakski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palowakski has chosen Burning Down the House as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jesse Hall has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 41 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Palowakski!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall slips a jab and a cross from Palowakski.
Hall connects with a jab.
Palowakski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hall swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hall cracks Palowakski with an uppercut from hell and Palowakski crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Hall's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Palowakski is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hall wants to get up but he can't break Palowakski's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Palowakski is still in real trouble! Can Hall finish him?
Palowakski is trying to keep Hall in close.
Hall pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Palowakski is keeping the position for now.
Hall trying to stand up but can't free himself from Palowakski's guard.
Palowakski seems to have recovered his senses.
Palowakski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Palowakski is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hall working aggressively here.
Hall working hard to break the clinch.

Hall escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hall cracks Palowakski with an open hand slap.
Palowakski closes the distance looking to clinch

and Hall counters by clinching up.
Hall can't break the clinch.

Hall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jesse Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palowakski moves out of range as Hall strikes.
Hall looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Palowakski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hall throws out the jab.
Palowakski looks to score with a jab to the body but Hall is just out of range.

Hall connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Palowakski to the floor! Hall dives in looking for the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palowakski regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hall would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hall avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hall tries to stand but Palowakski is controlling from the bottom.
Palowakski wants to sweep here but Hall controlling him for the moment.
Hall has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Palowakski is proving hard to escape from.

Hall pushes down on Palowakski's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hall wants to get back to his feet.
Palowakski pushes Hall off looking to stand but Hall dives back in and keeps control.
It looks like Hall is going to stand back up.
Palowakski is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Palowakski wants to control but Hall is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Palowakski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hall's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hall's back!
Palowakski trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Palowakski working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Hall tries to escape but Palowakski has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hall is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Hall turns into Palowakski and is now in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Palowakski defending well as Hall loads up on a big left hand.
Hall ducks under a wild hook from Palowakski.
Palowakski throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Hall rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Palowakski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hall throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Palowakski sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A punch combination from Hall misses.
Hall lands a nice hook to Palowakski's body. Palowakski takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A punch lands to the side of Palowakski 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Palowakski manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hall on his heels. He'll look to pass Hall's guard now, I'm sure.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hall is on top in guard.
Palowakski is trying to control the position but Hall postures up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hall wanted to stand there but Palowakski had control of the position.
Hall trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Hall is working for a kimura but Palowakski is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Hall is going to stand back up.

Hall working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Palowakski's thigh. Palowakski counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Palowakski wants to sweep here but Hall controlling him for the moment.

Palowakski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hall defends well.

Hall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Palowakski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hall has managed to get both his arms back between Palowakski's legs - danger averted.
Hall is looking to stand up but Palowakski won't let him.

Palowakski keeping full guard, as Hall tries to pass.
Palowakski has a closed guard, preventing Hall from standing up.
Palowakski looking for a sweep. Not yet Palowakski, not yet.
Hall wants to stand and escape but instead Palowakski has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Palowakski won't allow Hall to sweep him here.

Palowakski wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
Hall tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Palowakski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Palowakski wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Palowakski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Palowakski wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Palowakski landing with the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hall controlling the position.
Hall preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hall lands with a straight right. Palowakski didn't see that one coming.
Palowakski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A telegraphed right hand from Palowakski misses the target.
Hall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hall lands with a shot to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Palowakski looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Palowakski blocks a jab.
Hall swings for the body but Palowakski moves out of range.
Hall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Nice combo by Hall! Oh, that's hurt him - Palowakski falls to the canvas and Hall follows him into side control.

Hall moves into full mount!

Palowakski sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hall wants to stand but Palowakski has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Hall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Palowakski can do to turn this around?

Hall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Palowakski tries to roll over but Hall keeps him under control.

Palowakski looking for subs from the bottom but Hall mounts him!
Palowakski tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hall goes for an armbar but Palowakski turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Palowakski.
Hall is trying to keep Palowakski in close.
Jesse Hall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Palowakski trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hall looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Palowakski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Palowakski postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hall is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Palowakski, into his guard.
Palowakski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fred Palowakski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hall trying to stand up but can't free himself from Palowakski's guard.
Hall postures up.
Hall is looking to stand up but Palowakski won't let him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hall misses with a double jab.
Hall lands a jab to the nose.
Palowakski misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hall.
Jesse Hall is winning the standup battle so far.
Hall moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Hall throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Palowakski rushes Hall and presses him up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palowakski lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Hall managing to block the knees to the body from Palowakski.
Palowakski misses with some punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jesse Hall showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
