Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Kurt Schindler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Don Cerrone! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schindler throws a quick inside leg kick. Cerrone fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Cerrone tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Schindler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Cerrone throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Schindler shoots in and gets a takedown into Cerrone's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schindler trying to control the position from guard on top but Cerrone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Schindler won't allow Cerrone to sweep him here. Schindler's corner is telling him to maintain position. Schindler trying to control the position from guard on top but Cerrone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Schindler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Kurt Schindler wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Schindler drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Schindler shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cerrone but Cerrone pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cerrone gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cerrone is trying to keep Schindler in close.
Schindler tries to free his leg and advance position but Cerrone is retaining full guard. Cerrone looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Schindler wants to control from the top but Cerrone keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Cerrone keeping full guard, as Schindler tries to pass.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cerrone tries to clinch there but Schindler circles away.
Schindler swats away the attempt to clinch by Cerrone. Cerrone is looking to clinch but Schindler is avoiding it.
Schindler shoots in for a takedown but Cerrone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Schindler dives in and scores a takedown into Cerrone's guard. Schindler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cerrone is looking to stand up but Schindler isn't so interested in that idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cerrone has control of Schindler's left arm, preventing Schindler from doing any damage. Cerrone is trying to keep Schindler in close.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Don Cerrone has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Cerrone swinging wildly here.
Don Cerrone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schindler throws a leg kick but Cerrone sees it coming and moves out of range. Cerrone fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Schindler, pushing him back against the cage. Cerrone misses with a hook to the ribs.
Schindler is pushing Cerrone up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Cerrone pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Schindler tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cerrone avoids it. Cerrone managing to block the knees to the body from Schindler.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cerrone goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Schindler gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cerrone.
Schindler misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cerrone is trying to push Schindler away but Schindler has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. The referee is keeping an eye on Schindler - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Schindler is pressed up against the cage. Cerrone has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schindler down to the mat. Schindler avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kurt Schindler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Cerrone. Cerrone takes a swing at Schindler's ribcage but misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schindler shoots in but Cerrone avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cerrone pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kurt Schindler dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cerrone fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Schindler, pushing him back against the cage. Cerrone is trying to drag Schindler to the mat but Schindler just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Cerrone tries to pull guard but Schindler forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Schindler slows down the pace here.
Cerrone is trying to break the clinch but Schindler is controlling him. Cerrone jumps into guard, dragging Schindler to the mat.
Cerrone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Schindler wants to control from the top but Cerrone keeps moving. Schindler advances to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cerrone tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Cerrone is looking to improve his position.
Schindler is trying to control the action in half guard but Cerrone is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Cerrone tries to get to full guard but Schindler has control of the leg. Schindler is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Kurt Schindler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Schindler trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cerrone tries to hold on but Schindler postures up. Schindler working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cerrone is looking to get to half guard. Schindler scores with a couple of good head shots there.
This has been an exciting period of action! Schindler tries to control but Cerrone wriggling away. Schindler avoids the attempt from Cerrone to control. Schindler controlling from the full mount. Cerrone is squirming around, avoiding Schindler's attempts to control the action. Cerrone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schindler wants to control the pace but Cerrone is squirming around nicely. Cerrone is wriggling around trying to escape.
Schindler with good strikes from the mount here! Schindler tries to control but Cerrone wriggling away. Schindler has control of Cerrone's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cerrone regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Schindler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cerrone tries to kick Schindler off but Schindler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Schindler tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cerrone knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Schindler is keen to just control but Cerrone is a slippery customer. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cerrone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schindler. Cerrone misses with a takedown attempt and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Cerrone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cerrone closes the distance and clinches up with Schindler, looking for a takedown. Cerrone pushes Schindler against the cage but Schindler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A solid body kick from Schindler. The fight moves into the clinch position. Cerrone wants to break free but Schindler has control.
Schindler keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cerrone's efforts to push away. Cerrone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Schindler walks away with a smile on his face. Cerrone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Kurt Schindler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Cerrone. Cerrone misses with a wild body shot. Schindler feints and then cracks Cerrone's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cerrone down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cerrone tries to clinch up but Schindler circles away and keeps his distance. Schindler looks to score with a jab to the body but Cerrone is just out of range. Cerrone misses with a two punch combination.
Schindler scores with a takedown into Cerrone's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cerrone being controlled here, momentarily. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Schindler throwing strikes from guard but Cerrone blocks nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schindler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Schindler slows the pace down. Schindler landing a few strikes. Schindler controlling from side mount. Schindler trying to control the position but Cerrone is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cerrone is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schindler slows the pace down.
Kurt Schindler has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Cerrone throws a right and a left that Schindler avoids nicely. Don Cerrone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Schindler swats away the attempt to clinch by Cerrone.
And that's the end of the fight! Kurt Schindler showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schindler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
