Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marty Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Dehaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dehaz has chosen Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It) as his entrance music. Nikolai Dehaz has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marty Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nikolai Dehaz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes shoots in but no luck this time.
Dehaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mendes.
Mendes avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Dehaz throws a low kick but Mendes moves out of range easily.
Dehaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Mendes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dehaz to the ground. Mendes is now in Dehaz's guard.
Mendes trying to control but Dehaz is working from the bottom.

Mendes has gone for a leg lock! Dehaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mendes's guard.
Dehaz wants to pass the guard but Mendes is keeping the position.
Mendes wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mendes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dehaz is aware though and is defending well.
Mendes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dehaz looking to pass the guard.
Mendes keeping moving, preventing Dehaz from controlling successfully.
Dehaz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Mendes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dehaz defends well.
Dehaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nikolai Dehaz wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mendes shoots in for a takedown but Dehaz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marty Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dehaz cracks the inside of Mendes's front leg.
Dehaz clobbers Mendes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Left hook, right uppercut from Dehaz.

Dehaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendes. Mendes gets slowly back to his feet.
Dehaz throws a low kick but Mendes avoids it.
Dehaz moves to clinch but Mendes breaks away

and Mendes counters with a shoot takedown. Dehaz fights it but they end up in guard.
Dehaz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Dehaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mendes wants to pass the guard but Dehaz is keeping the position.
Mendes stops Dehaz from standing up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mendes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mendes stops Dehaz from standing up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by Mendes or perhaps it was just good defense by Dehaz which made him look bad.

Mendes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dehaz sprawls well initially but Mendes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marty Mendes dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mendes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dehaz finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Dehaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mendes.
Dehaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dehaz throws a head kick that misses.

Dehaz is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mendes's half guard.
Dehaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendes keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dehaz is looking to stall here but Mendes recovers full guard.

Dehaz trying to control but Mendes is working from the bottom.
Dehaz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dehaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dehaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mendes bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Mendes takes a kick to the side of the head.
Dehaz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mendes has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Dehaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mendes.

Mendes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dehaz swivels and escapes.

Dehaz throws a leg kick but Mendes sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Dehaz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Mendes checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

An inside leg kick lands from Dehaz.
Dehaz stuffs the takedown.
Dehaz with a nice cross.
Dehaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mendes takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dehaz scores with a spinning back kick!

Dehaz clinches up with Mendes and pushes him back against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mendes as Dehaz tries to tie him up.
Dehaz lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Dehaz looking to throw knees to the head but Mendes is blocking nicely.

Dehaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mendes fails with a takedown attempt.
Marty Mendes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mendes takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Dehaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mendes.
A head kick misses from Dehaz.
Dehaz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dehaz looks for the body kick but Mendes saw that one coming.
Mendes is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Mendes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marty Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dehaz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Dehaz cracks the inside of Mendes's front leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolai Dehaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Mendes shoots in looking for a takedown. Dehaz tries to sprawl out of it but Mendes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dehaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marty Mendes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mendes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Dehaz is looking for a sweep. Mendes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dehaz tries to kick Mendes off in order to stand up. Mendes Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Dehaz is trying to improve his position.
Dehaz is trying to get back to his feet.

Mendes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dehaz manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mendes's best efforts.

Dehaz is looking to escape.
Mendes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dehaz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Mendes is trying to control. Dehaz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dehaz pushes Mendes off, looking to escape but Mendes dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Dehaz is forced to tap! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marty Mendes!
