PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gonzala Kerrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kerrison has chosen "The Unforgiven III"-Metallica as his entrance music. Gonzala Kerrison will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reggie Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gonzala Kerrison!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warren is looking to clinch.

Kerrison drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kerrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kerrison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Warren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Warren had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kerrison is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Warren Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kerrison's back instead.

Kerrison is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Warren gets his way!

Warren has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Warren is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Warren is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kerrison knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kerrison for a finish.

Kerrison tries to break free.
Kerrison is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Warren off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Warren lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Kerrison.
Kerrison looking very determined here, making life difficult for Warren.

Kerrison defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Warren's arms.
Kerrison trying to control the hands but Warren won't let him.
Will Warren go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kerrison is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Warren is trying to control but Kerrison is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.

Kerrison working to try and regain half guard.

Warren working for a guillotine from mount but Kerrison is in no mood to give up.
Warren looking to finish Kerrison with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kerrison!

Kerrison defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Warren.
Warren is breathing heavily.
Warren scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Kerrison?

Warren can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kerrison is looking to escape.

Warren looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kerrison is squirming around, avoiding Warren's attempts to control the action.
Kerrison is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Warren looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Warren is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kerrison has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reggie Warren dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Warren shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Warren was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Warren quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Warren but it's paid off an Kerrison is forced to tap! Nice work by Warren.
