PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ogustivimus Amavimus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vandal Gragas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vandal Gragas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ogustivimus Amavimus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vandal Gragas!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amavimus misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Amavimus, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gragas shoots for a double leg takedown but Amavimus sprawls well. He's pushed Gragas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Amavimus misses with a hook. Gragas ducked under it nicely.
A telegraphed right hand from Amavimus misses the target.

Gragas gets caught flat footed, as Amavimus shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Amavimus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Gragas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Amavimus is aware though and is defending well.
Amavimus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gragas on the ground.
Amavimus tries to stand but Gragas is controlling from the bottom.

Amavimus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gragas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Amavimus has managed to get both his arms back between Gragas's legs - danger averted.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gragas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Amavimus defends well.

Gragas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Amavimus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Amavimus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gragas has his foot on Amavimus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Amavimus works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gragas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Amavimus wants to control from the top but Gragas keeps moving.

Gragas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gragas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Gragas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Amavimus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looks like Vandal Gragas has been cut.
Ogustivimus Amavimus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Amavimus closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Amavimus lands in his opponent's guard.
Amavimus slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Amavimus fails to land with a series of punches.
Amavimus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Amavimus scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Amavimus lands a big right hand that sends Gragas crashing to the mat! Amavimus stays standing though and waves Gragas back to his feet!

That has opened up Vandal Gragas's cut even more.
Ogustivimus Amavimus is winning the standup battle so far.
Gragas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gragas is breathing heavily.
Amavimus connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Gragas to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Amavimus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ogustivimus Amavimus!
