Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brad Marchand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Zam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Zam will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Marchand! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Zam! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marchand rushes Zam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Marchand wants the takedown. Zam is fighting it off but Marchand persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Zam's guard against the cage. Marchand slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Zam is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Marchand looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Zam trying to keep a closed guard but Marchand is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marchand is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brad Marchand. Nice jab there from Zam. Zam gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Zam is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Marchand controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zam manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Zam trying to control but Marchand is having none of it. This has been an exciting period of action! Marchand sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Marchand slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marchand wants to stand and escape but Zam is having none of it. Marchand keeping full guard, as Zam tries to pass. Zam passes Marchand's left leg - he's now in half guard. Marchand tries to get to full guard but Zam has control of the leg. Zam wants to control but Marchand is keeping him busy. Marchand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zam on the ground. Marchand holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Marchand is refusing to be controlled, as Zam sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marchand wants to get back to full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Scott Zam was stalling too much, according to the referee. Zam misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zam misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marchand.
Zam moves away from the strike by Marchand. Marchand clinches up against the cage. Marchand manages to pull guard.
Zam won't allow Marchand to sweep him here. Marchand kicks Zam off and gets to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Some wild striking there from Zam.
Zam dips to his left and cracks Marchand with an uppercut! Marchand doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Zam clobbers Marchand with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brad Marchand dominated that round. That's time! Marchand's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Zam swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marchand misses with a takedown attempt - Zam sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Marchand shoots in but Zam avoids the takedown attempt easily. Marchand shoots in looking for a takedown. Zam tries to sprawl out of it but Marchand keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zam manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Marchand. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marchand clinches up with Zam and pushes him back against the cage. Marchand gets a trip takedown into half guard. Zam wants to get back to full guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Zam is looking for a sweep. Marchand is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Zam looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zam is defending against the submission attempts here by Marchand.
Brad Marchand overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zam is trying to control but can't.
Marchand wants to pass to mount but Zam is defending the position. Marchand takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Zam trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marchand slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brad Marchand. Marchand looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Zam keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Marchand controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marchand has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brad Marchand. Zam lands a nice shot to the body.
Zam feints a jab promting Marchand to slip. Zam then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Marchand slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Marchand fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Zam fails to land the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marchand. Zam throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Marchand on the side of the head. Marchand takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Marchand closes the distance and clinches. Zam wants to break free but Marchand has control.
Marchand is pressed up against the cage. Zam has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marchand down to the mat. Marchand avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Zam closes the distance and clinches up with Marchand, looking for a takedown. Zam pushes Marchand against the cage but Marchand circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Zam throws a series of punches but Marchand avoids them all with ease. Left hook, right uppercut from Zam. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Marchand looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Marchand closes the distance and clinches. Marchand has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Zam clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brad Marchand dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Marchand is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zam's half guard. Marchand is looking to advance position but Zam won't allow it. Well, if Marchand is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Zam regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Marchand. Zam trying to keep a closed guard but Marchand is proving a slippery customer.
Marchand has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Marchand is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marchand throws a strike but Zam rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Marchand pulls Zam in close to his closed guard and prevents Zam from doing any damage or advancing position. Zam won't allow Marchand to sweep him here. Zam tries to stand but Marchand is controlling from the bottom. Marchand is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Zam is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marchand is keeping the position for now. Marchand wants to stand up but Zam is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Marchand moves into the clinch successfully.
Marchand tightens his grip and picks Zam up, before dumping him to the ground. Zam manages to land in guard. Marchand looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Marchand working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Scott Zam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marchand seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Marchand postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Marchand postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zam is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Marchand, into his guard. Zam won't allow Marchand to sweep him here. Marchand is adopting a defensive guard. Brad Marchand is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Brad Marchand wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Marchand shoots in for a takedown but Zam shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Zam misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Marchand closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Zam did well to prevent Marchand getting side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Marchand controlling the action here. Marchand is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marchand's corner is telling him to maintain position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
And that's the end of the fight! Brad Marchand showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marchand, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
