Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mohammad Ganji! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Epp! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ganji clinches with his opponent.
Epp drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ganji pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ganji takes one to the side of the head.
Epp misses with a wild combination.
Ganji showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Epp.
Epp displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Ganji on the wrong end of a nice hook. A combination from Epp does no damage. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ganji. The referee asks Ganji politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ganji prefers to stall for the moment though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ganji tries to stand but Epp is controlling his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Epp manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Ganji is looking to improve his position.
Epp is looking for a kimura but Ganji is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Epp to get the leverage. Ganji is looking to improve his position.
Epp controlling the pace. Epp working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Epp sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ganji is concentrating on defense, preventing Epp from advancing position. Epp is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ganji sees it coming and defends easily. Epp winds up and cracks Ganji with a swinging punch to the side of the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Epp is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ganji has managed to free his arm - good work. Epp moves nicely into side control. Ganji is working to avoid the ground and pound but Epp connects with a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Epp trying to control the position but Ganji is working away. Ganji tries to buck Epp off but Epp is having none of it. Ganji knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Epp on the ground. Epp in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Ganji is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
