Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel La Ruso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Phantom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). La Ruso comes to the cage accompanied by Miagi's Flute. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel La Ruso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, King Phantom! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phantom tries to clinch but La Ruso is having none of it. La Ruso throws a nice outside leg kick. La Ruso throws a series of punches but Phantom moves out of range. La Ruso fails miserably with a takedown attempt. La Ruso shoots in but no luck this time. Phantom is on the wrong end of a nice combination from La Ruso. A head kick misses from Phantom. La Ruso scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Phantom fails with an attempt to clinch.
Phantom tries to close the distance and clinch up but La Ruso swats him away and circles back towards the center. A clash of legs there as La Ruso blocks the low kick. La Ruso throws a nice looking combination but Phantom bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Phantom throws a right hand that La Ruso ducks under and follows up with a left that La Ruso also avoids with ease. La Ruso works over Phantom's head and body with a nice combination. Phantom circles away from the clinch attempt and Phantom cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Phantom misses with a double jab
and Phantom takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The fight stays on the outside here - Phantom looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. La Ruso tries to clinch but fails miserably and Phantom counters with a stiff right hand. La Ruso shoots in and bounces Phantom off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. La Ruso tries to free his leg and advance position but Phantom is retaining full guard. La Ruso thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. La Ruso postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Phantom is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of La Ruso, into his guard. La Ruso has his foot on Phantom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Phantom works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. La Ruso is looking for a triangle but Phantom pushes his legs off easily.
La Ruso is breathing heavily. Phantom has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of La Ruso is proving hard to escape from. La Ruso working for a triangle but Phantom defends it easily.
Phantom wants to stand but La Ruso has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. La Ruso wants to sweep here but Phantom controlling him for the moment. La Ruso working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Phantom doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but La Ruso is tightening it up a little... Phantom has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Phantom reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Phantom taps out! nice BJJ there by La Ruso!
