PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darian Gorman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Ram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ram has chosen Black Sabbath Iron Man as his entrance music. Darian Gorman looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darian Gorman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Ram!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gorman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Gorman tries to clinch there but Ram circles away.
Gorman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ram shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gorman keeping full guard, as Ram tries to pass.

Ram drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ram jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ram stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gorman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ram is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Ram stands up from Gorman's guard - Ram perhaps looking for a knockout.

Ram shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ram was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ram sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Ram goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Gorman is on top in guard.
Gorman tries to stand but Ram is controlling from the bottom.
Ram throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ram wants to control but Gorman passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ram looking for submissions off his back.
Ram has a hand on Gorman's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gorman takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Gorman is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Ram is trying desperately to improve position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gorman is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Gorman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ram moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ram scores a takedown into full mount!
Ram tries to control but Gorman wriggling away.
Ram throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ram controlling from the full mount.
Gorman tries to buck Ram off but he can't manage it.
Gorman is arching his back trying to strike from the bottom but Ram turns him over and now has his back.
Gorman is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Ram.

Ram working for a choke but Gorman is defending well.

Ram is looking for the choke from the back position but Gorman is controlling his hands well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Ram dominated that round.
That's time! Gorman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ram misses with a takedown attempt - Gorman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gorman wants to clinch up but Ram keeps it at a distance.
Horrible takedown by Ram or perhaps it was just good defense by Gorman which made him look bad.
Ram tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gorman swivels and escapes.
Darian Gorman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Ram.

Ram tries to keep at a distance but Gorman has taken the fight into the clinch.
Gorman has had enough of the clinch but Ram keeps him there for the moment.
Gorman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ram avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Ram gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Gorman regains guard.
Gorman keeping full guard, as Ram tries to pass.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ram stands and steps away. Gorman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ram takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gorman ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ram.
Gorman lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ram looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ram trying to control but Gorman is working from the bottom.
Ram looking to pass the guard.
Ram passes into half guard.

Ram is trying to work for a kimura but Gorman is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ram is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gorman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gorman wants to get back to his feet.
Ram frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ram looking to isolate an arm here. Gorman doesn't see it coming and as Ram extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Ram!
