The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michael doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Marif shoots in looking for a takedown. Michael tries to sprawl out of it but Marif keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Michael manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Michael lunges at Marif with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Marif's hand.
Marif shoots in and drives through. Michael sprawls well.
Marif throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marif looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Michael is fending him off so far but Marif persists. Nope, Michael circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sauvi Marif. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Michael avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Marif tries to bum rush Michael with a series of wild strikes but Michael uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marif throws a sloppy head kick and Michael moves out of range easily.
Marif throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Michael misses with an uppercut
and Marif counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Michael off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Marif follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Michael was out before he hit the floor.
