Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monteiro darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Oliveira gets back to full guard.
Monteiro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Oliveira is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Monteiro wants to pass the guard but Oliveira is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monteiro wants to take a breather but Oliveira manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Monteiro.

Oliveira tries to close the distance and clinch up but Monteiro swats him away and circles back towards the center.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

No joy there for Monteiro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Donk. Monteiro catches Oliveira right on the button with a cross.
Monteiro looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Oliveira pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oliveira fails to land the takedown.
Monteiro tries to bum rush Oliveira with a series of wild strikes but Oliveira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Monteiro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Oliveira to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Oliveira fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Monteiro, pushing him back against the cage.

Oliveira has Monteiro pressed against the cage, preventing Monteiro from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Oliveira jumps guard but Monteiro turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
William Monteiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joabe Oliveira.
Monteiro wants to get back to striking at distance but Oliveira won't allow it.

Oliveira has hold of Monteiro's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Monteiro tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Oliveira cranks the arm and Monteiro screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Monteiro, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
