And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Maldini!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Makunouchi!
Makunouchi digs a good body shot into Maldini's ribs.
Makunouchi scores with a hook to the body. Maldini takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Makunouchi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Maldini shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Maldini with a lazy takedown attempt
and Makunouchi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd cheers as Makunouchi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maldini doesn't seem phased though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Makunouchi throws a series of punches but Maldini moves out of range.
Maldini tries to score a power double leg takedown but Makunouchi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maldini somewhat.

Makunouchi misses with a few strikes there.

Ippo Makunouchi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maldini gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Makunouchi counter with a right hand.
Ippo Makunouchi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Maldini.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Makunouchi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Maldini is trying desperately to land a takedown but Makunouchi is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Maldini.
Makunouchi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Makunouchi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Makunouchi.
Maldini is rocked!
Makunouchi lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Maldini can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Makunouchi and Maldini drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Makunouchi.
