PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nolan Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jayden Dunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nolan Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jayden Dunn!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Patterson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dunn somewhat.
Patterson fails with the takedown
and Dunn counters with an outside leg kick.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Dunn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Patterson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dunn is fending him off so far but Patterson persists. Nope, Dunn circles away and we're back to standing.
Patterson leaves Dunn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dunn looks to land a body kick but Patterson moved away.
Dunn swings for the body but Patterson moves out of range.
Patterson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nolan Patterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Patterson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dunn.
Dunn looks for a takedown but Patterson sprawls well.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown but Dunn shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A left and a right from Patterson both land. Nice combination.
Dunn is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A chopping leg kick lands by Dunn.

Dunn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Patterson pushes Dunn off looking to stand but Dunn dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Dunn seems content to control.
Patterson is trying to stand.
Patterson is breathing heavily.
Dunn seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Dunn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Patterson is in trouble now - Dunn has advanced to mount!

Patterson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Dunn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dunn has hold of Patterson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Patterson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Patterson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Patterson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Dunn.
Dunn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Patterson looks a forlorn figure.

Dunn lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Patterson hang on?
Dunn cracks Patterson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Dunn is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Patterson is surviving well by controlling Dunn's body position as best he can.
Dunn lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patterson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jayden Dunn dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Dunn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Patterson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dunn controls the pace.

Dunn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patterson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dunn has managed to get both his arms back between Patterson's legs - danger averted.
Dunn stops Patterson from standing up.

Dunn gets to his feet - Patterson follows without any prompting.

and Dunn counters with a shoot takedown. Patterson fights it but they end up in guard.
Dunn wants to control from the top but Patterson keeps moving.
Patterson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dunn won't allow Patterson to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dunn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunn cracks Patterson with a solid left hand.
Patterson wants to stand up but Dunn is controlling him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dunn is in close to Patterson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Dunn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Dunn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Patterson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Patterson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dunn content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Patterson is looking to regain half guard here but Dunn keeps moving and retains side control.

Patterson tries to clinch but Dunn is having none of it.
Dunn dives in and grabs Patterson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Patterson pushes down on Dunn's head and hops out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Patterson.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dunn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jayden Dunn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Dunn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patterson pinned against the cage. Patterson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Patterson throws a head kick that misses.
Dunn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Patterson but Patterson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nolan Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jayden Dunn.

Dunn is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dunn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Patterson leaves Dunn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Patterson throws a sloppy head kick and Dunn moves out of range easily.
Nolan Patterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dunn turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Patterson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Dunn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patterson tries to avoid it but Dunn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patterson to the ground. Patterson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Patterson throws a sloppy head kick and Dunn moves out of range easily.

Dunn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Patterson swivels and escapes.
Dunn fails with the takedown.
Patterson tries to clinch but Dunn is having none of it.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dunn but Dunn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dunn stuffs the takedown attempt from Patterson. Patterson gets slowly back to his feet.
A combination from Dunn does no damage.
Patterson misses with a double jab.

Dunn is looking to clinch but Patterson is avoiding it.
Dunn tries to clinch but Patterson moves out of range.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Dunn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dunn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Patterson as he avoids it easily.
Patterson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dunn tries for a takedown but Patterson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dunn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dunn wants it to stay on the feet.
Dunn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Patterson pinned against the cage. Patterson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Patterson clinches up with Dunn and pushes him back against the cage.

Patterson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Patterson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dunn.
Patterson tries to control but Dunn manages to take his back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dunn controlling the position well here. Patterson rolled but Dunn kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

I would just about give that final round to Jayden Dunn.
I've got Dunn winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
