Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Hortons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Russam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Hortons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Russam! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hortons closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Russam looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Russam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Hortons seems content to control. Russam tries to get to full guard but Hortons has control of the leg. Hortons slows the pace down in half guard. Russam is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Russam moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Russam wants to stand and escape but Hortons is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russam tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hortons controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Russam working a defensive guard but Hortons passes into half guard.
Hortons frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Hortons can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Russam is looking to escape. Hortons cracks Russam with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hortons working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hortons lands a big elbow. Hortons landing strikes, looking to finish! Russam looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Russam trying to control the position but Hortons manages to sink in the hooks. Hortons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Russam on the ground. Russam preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Hortons. Hortons is looking to control Russam but Russam is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Russam defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hortons's arms. Hortons looking to break Russam's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Russam remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hortons will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Hortons is breathing heavily. Russam breaks Hortons's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hortons is trying to keep Russam in close.
Hortons is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Russam swats away the attempt to clinch by Hortons.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Russam doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hortons counters with a single leg into guard. Russam didn't expect that. Hortons avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hortons postures up.
Russam doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Russam wants to stand and escape but Hortons is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Hortons dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Russam gets a takedown into half guard. Hortons trying to hold on to Russam's head to control him but Russam postures up.
Russam passes to side control. You can see the frustration on Hortons's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Russam fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Russam is looking to take a break and control but Hortons is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes there by Russam.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hortons gets a clinch. A right hook to the body lands for Hortons.
Russam is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hortons wants a takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hortons pulls guard. Russam is looking to work some ground and pound but Hortons has wrist control. Russam wants to stand and escape but instead Hortons has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Russam is trying to keep Hortons in close.
Russam is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Hortons is in close to Russam's body, working some short punches and elbows. Russam not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hortons stops Russam from standing up. Russam controls Hortons momentarily but Hortons frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Russam gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Russam wants to sweep here but Hortons controlling him for the moment. Russam is trying to keep Hortons in close.
Russam might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hortons kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Russam trying to strike off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hortons showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Russam throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Russam controls Hortons momentarily but Hortons frees himself. Hortons trying to control but Russam is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Hortons circles away from the clinch attempt.
Russam with a lazy takedown attempt and Hortons holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Hortons dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Russam looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hortons looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Russam! Russam is looking to get to half guard. Russam wants to hold on but Hortons pushes him away. Russam is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Hortons is staying active. Hortons can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Russam is looking to escape. Russam working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russam's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Russam is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Russam is in all sorts of trouble here.
Russam tries to lock up and control but Hortons gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Tim Hortons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Russam is in a horrible position here. Hortons smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Russam tries to hold on but Hortons postures up. Russam wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hortons trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Russam doesn't escape. Hortons working for the choke. Russam trying to control the hands but Hortons won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Russam right now.
Hortons landing with strikes. Hortons gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Hortons gets his hands free as Russam looks to control. Russam looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Russam defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Russam in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hortons pushes Russam off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Russam gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hortons counters with a shoot takedown. Russam fights it but they end up in guard. Hortons is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Russam pulls Hortons in close to prevent any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Tim Hortons showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hortons has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
