Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gareth Gobblecoque! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerry Snarff! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gobblecoque tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Gobblecoque throws a head kick but Snarff moves out of range.
Snarff checks a low kick from Gobblecoque. Snarff closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gobblecoque circles away. Gobblecoque throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Snarff tries for a takedown but Gobblecoque sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gobblecoque tries to close the distance and clinch but Snarff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gobblecoque throws a chopping leg kick but Snarff manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Snarff blocks a head kick by Gobblecoque.
Gobblecoque tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gobblecoque throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Snarff fails to land the takedown. Gareth Gobblecoque has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Snarff. Snarff wants to clinch. Snarff blocks a head kick by Gobblecoque.
Gareth Gobblecoque seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gobblecoque throws a half hearted mid kick. Snarff doesn't manage to clinch there - Gobblecoque circles away.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Gobblecoque. Snarff shrugs it off though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gobblecoque misses with a head kick.
Snarff drives through with a takedown into guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Snarff drops back looking for a leg! Gobblecoque is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gobblecoque manages to kick Snarff off! Snarff jumps back into Gobblecoque's guard. Gobblecoque knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Snarff on the ground. Snarff in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gobblecoque really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Snarff sitting in guard, not really doing much. Gobblecoque wants to stand up but Snarff is controlling him. Snarff looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Snarff trying to control but Gobblecoque is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gobblecoque has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Snarff can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Snarff won't allow Gobblecoque to get back to his feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jerry Snarff wasn't active enough on the ground. Gobblecoque has Snarff up against the cage in a clinch.
Gobblecoque utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Snarff wants to stall.
Gobblecoque manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gobblecoque keeping moving, preventing Snarff from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gobblecoque working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Snarff. Snarff lands a couple of digs. Snarff postures up.
Gobblecoque looking to control but Snarff passes into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Snarff works his way into side control. Gobblecoque wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! You can see the frustration on Gobblecoque's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gobblecoque is not content to let Snarff control the position. Snarff has control of an arm but Gobblecoque manages to advance to Snarff's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gobblecoque is throwing strikes by Snarff counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Snarff regains half guard. Snarff wants to control but Gobblecoque is keeping busy.
Gobblecoque throwing shots but Snarff is blocking nicely. Snarff avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gobblecoque. Snarff is looking to control Gobblecoque's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Snarff avoid being mounted? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gobblecoque misses with a head shot. Snarff uses the momentum to regain guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Snarff throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Gobblecoque throws a strike but Snarff rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gareth Gobblecoque will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gobblecoque throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Snarff. A slapping body kick lands there for Gobblecoque. Gobblecoque throws a low kick but Snarff avoids it. Snarff checks the leg kick. Snarff avoids a kick to the body.
Gobblecoque misses with a body kick. Gobblecoque throws a sloppy head kick and Snarff moves out of range easily. Gobblecoque bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Snarff avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gobblecoque misses with the body kick and Snarff counters with a takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gobblecoque is not content to let Snarff control the position. Snarff misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Snarff works to advance to full mount. Gobblecoque defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Snarff is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gobblecoque is surviving well by controlling Snarff's body position as best he can. Snarff wants to control the pace but Gobblecoque is squirming around nicely. Gobblecoque has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Snarff wants to control the position but Gobblecoque frees himself and scrambles - Snarff manages to regain control in side control.
The referee asks Snarff politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Snarff prefers to stall for the moment though. Gobblecoque tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jerry Snarff has got the better of the ground game so far. Snarff moves into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snarff in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Snarff controlling his opponent. Snarff get's back to his feet. Gobblecoque throws a head kick but Snarff moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Snarff. Gareth Gobblecoque is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gobblecoque throws a sloppy head kick and Snarff moves out of range easily. Gobblecoque gets caught flat footed, as Snarff shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Snarff gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gobblecoque throws a head kick that misses. Gobblecoque misses with a body kick. Gareth Gobblecoque is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The fight stays on the outside here - Snarff looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gobblecoque tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Snarff scores with a kick to the midsection. Snarff drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gobblecoque being controlled for a moment. Snarff scores with punches from side control. You can see the frustration on Gobblecoque's face as Snarff controls the position. Let's hope that Snarff has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gobblecoque is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Snarff asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Snarff works to advance to full mount. Gobblecoque defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Snarff looking to control but Gobblecoque is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Snarff working the ground and pound effectively.
Gobblecoque is rocked! Gobblecoque takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Snarff's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
