Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abel Koponen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Klum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grant Klum has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Abel Koponen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grant Klum!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klum throws a front kick that sends Koponen stumbling back into the cage.
Klum takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Koponen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Klum was well out of range. Poor timing from Koponen.
Klum misses with a takedown attempt
and Koponen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Klum misses with a wild combination.
Klum misses with a head kick.
Klum shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Koponen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Klum thinking.
Koponen sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Klum fails to land with a series of punches.
Klum tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Klum misses with a wild combination.
Koponen looks to score with a jab to the body but Klum is just out of range.
Klum throws a head kick but Koponen moves out of range.
Koponen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koponen scores with a jab.
Klum walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Klum shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Koponen counters with a straight right hand.
Abel Koponen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grant Klum.
Klum throws a front kick aimed at Koponen's knee but Koponen avoids it well.
Klum takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Klum misses the body punch
and Koponen counters with a left and a right that stings Klum.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Klum throws a sloppy head kick and Koponen moves out of range easily.
Klum misses with a takedown attempt
and Koponen counters with a one-two to the body.
Klum on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Oooooh!!! Koponen has knocked Klum down with a huge combo! Koponen steps away and waves a wobbly Klum back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Klum is rocked!
Koponen lands with a right hand.
Klum is still on wobbly legs! Can Koponen finish him?
Klum is trying desperately to land a takedown but Koponen is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Klum.
Klum throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Klum seems to have recovered his senses.
Klum avoids a kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Klum tries to land a front kick but Koponen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Koponen moves into the clinch successfully.
Koponen wants to take the fight to the mat but Klum manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Koponen fails to pull guard.

Koponen gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Klum regains guard.
Koponen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Koponen with a flurry of punches that miss.

Koponen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Klum utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Koponen stands up from Klum's guard - Koponen perhaps looking for a knockout.
Klum misses with a takedown
and Koponen counters with a one-two to the body.
Koponen pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Klum fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koponen manages to avoid it.
Klum tries for a takedown but Koponen circles away easily
and Koponen counters with a nice uppercut.
Koponen keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Koponen displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Klum is looking to land body kicks.
Koponen ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Klum fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Koponen avoids it really well and circles away.
Klum looks winded!
Klum fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koponen connects with the punch.

Koponen feints and as Klum raises his hands in defense, Koponen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Koponen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Koponen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Koponen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Koponen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abel Koponen dominated that round.
That's time! Koponen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Klum tries to sprawl but Koponen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Koponen seems content to control.
Klum blocking the ground and pound attempt from Koponen.
Koponen is keen to just control but Klum is a slippery customer.

Koponen is working for a submission of some sort.
Koponen not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koponen drops an elbow to the side of Klum's head.

Koponen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Klum is just riding it out for now. Koponen eventually gives up the hold.
Klum really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Koponen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koponen throwing shots but Klum is blocking nicely.
Klum is refusing to be controlled, as Koponen sits in half guard.

Koponen wants to work for an arm triangle but Klum is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Koponen gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Klum has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Koponen finds it's way round the side to connect with Klum's head.
Grant Klum is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Koponen blocks a head kick by Klum.
Klum walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Koponen.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koponen cracks Klum with a big right hand but Klum just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Koponen has hold of Klum's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Klum seems comfortable defending it but Koponen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Klum is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Klum is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Koponen couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Abel Koponen!
A relieved looking Abel Koponen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
