PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Archie Stacks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stacks's entrance music is Royce Da 5'9-Gun Harmonizing. A fine choice. Chris Griffin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Archie Stacks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin rushes Stacks and presses him up against the cage.
Griffin tries for a takedown. No joy.
Stacks changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Griffin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Horrible takedown by Griffin or perhaps it was just good defense by Stacks which made him look bad.
Stacks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Griffin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stacks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Griffin.
Archie Stacks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Griffin.
Stacks tries to clinch up but Griffin circles away and keeps his distance.
Stacks shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Stacks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Griffin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Stacks tries to kick Griffin off but Griffin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Griffin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Stacks trying desperately to get to his feet.
Stacks is breathing heavily.
Griffin wants to control the pace but Stacks is squirming around nicely.
Griffin is looking to work his way around to Stacks's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Griffin lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Griffin lands with some strikes.
Stacks in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stacks is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Stacks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Griffin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Griffin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stacks misses with a hook. Griffin ducked under it nicely.
Stacks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Griffin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Griffin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Griffin controls the position from side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Griffin tries to score with some ground and pound. Stacks controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griffin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Stacks is trying to escape and Griffin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Stacks is forced to tap! Nice work there by Griffin! Very nice indeed!
