Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nolan Patrick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geoff Springer! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Springer scores with a hook to the body. Patrick takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Patrick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Springer pinned against the cage. Springer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Springer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Patrick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Springer swats him away and circles back towards the center. Springer cracks Patrick with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Patrick looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Springer finish him?

It looks like Nolan Patrick has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Patrick drives through with a takedown into Springer's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Oh Patrick is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Springer is looking for a triangle but Patrick pushes his legs off easily.

Patrick postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Patrick seems to have got his legs back now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Springer can do anything to dispel that myth. Springer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Patrick can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Patrick wants to pass the guard but Springer is keeping the position. Patrick wants to stand but Springer is controlling his posture from full guard. Springer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Springer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patrick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Springer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Patrick is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Springer, into his guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Springer working for a triangle but Patrick defends it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Springer bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Patrick has Springer pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Springer looking to pass the guard. Springer wants to get up but he can't break Patrick's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Patrick has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Springer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Springer wants to stand and escape but instead Patrick has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Springer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patrick gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Patrick working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
