The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bess defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nagant.
Nagant tries to clinch but Bess is having none of it.
Bess shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nagant but Nagant pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nagant moves in looking to clinch but Bess pushes him off.
Bess fails to land the takedown.
Nagant is looking to clinch but Bess is avoiding it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Nagant looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Nagant thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bess's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Davon Bess wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bess stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bess wants it to stay on the feet.
Faried Nagant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nagant shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bess but Bess pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Davon Bess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Faried Nagant.

Nagant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nagant content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Bess has locked up a guillotine! Bess's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Nagant is holding on here and Bess must be using up a lot of energy. Nagant has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Bess gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
